Signs of rats

Rats rarely move on by themselves

Rats are one of the most persistent pests and once they find a reliable source of food and shelter, they are unlikely to move on without intervention. What may start as occasional activity can quickly develop into a more serious situation if it is not dealt with early.

Here at Norfolk Environmental Pest Solutions, we take a careful and methodical approach to rat control, focusing on dealing with the cause rather than just the symptoms.

In the walls

Scratching and movement behind walls and inside cavities.

In the loft

Noise and movement overhead in loft spaces.

Beneath floors

Movement and noise under the floorboards.

Our method

A hands-on method, not a quick fix

Rats require a more hands-on method. Trapping is always the starting point, providing a clear and controlled way to deal with the activity.

Trapping

  • A clear and controlled way to deal with the activity
  • Carried out carefully and methodically
  • Safer for pets, wildlife and the surrounding environment
Just as important

Finding the way in

Trapping deals with the rats that are already there. Just as important is working out how they are getting into the property in the first place.

Gaps, gnawed holes and damaged drains are all checked, so the cause is dealt with and the problem does not keep coming back.

Drains and entry points

Stopping rats getting back in

Rats will often use drainage systems as a route into buildings, entering through damaged or defective pipework. If this is not identified, the situation is likely to return, regardless of how many rats are removed.

This approach focuses on dealing with the source of the issue, rather than repeatedly treating the symptoms.

About CCTV Drain Surveys
  1. Step 1

    CCTV drain survey

CCTV drain surveys can be carried out to inspect the system internally and identify any faults.

  2. Step 2

    Faults found

Damaged or defective pipework is located, so the route rats are using can be dealt with.

  3. Step 3

    Non-return valve fitted

Where needed, a valve lets waste flow out as normal whilst preventing rats from travelling back into the property.

At home, on farmland or within a commercial setting

Wherever the rats are, the aim is always to bring the situation under control and prevent it from returning.

Homes

Lofts, wall cavities, beneath floors and gardens.

Farms

Barns, feed stores and outbuildings.

Businesses

Premises, stores and warehouses.
